This is designed as a one-player game, but you may wish to play as a pair or group. The guidance can be applied to more than one player.
You can choose how you’d like to play this game, there are no firm rules, just guidance to help you. You can use as many game elements as you like, and ignore the ones you’re not excited about.
There is no way to win or lose this game. You’ll create a story and experience all the good and bad events of the adventurer’s year.
Overview
After a lifetime of adventure, it’s time to settle down. Up until now, your life has been a whirlwind. You’ve slayed monsters, battled demons, intercepted nefarious plots, and made a good amount of coin along the way. Everything was big, epic and exciting, but there was rarely time to enjoy it. Sleeping and eating were just a necessity, all the towns and cities you visited have blurred into one, and there are moments you bury deep in the hope to forget one day. It was impossible to savour the moments that could’ve brought you joy.
After a series of events you’ve called ‘the turning point,’ you find yourself alone in the quiet village of Delius. It’s time to settle down, leave your adventuring days behind you and try a slower pace of life.
But village life isn’t quite as peaceful as you imagined. Nosy villagers make it hard to fit in, pesky gnomes steal your vegetables, and your actions matter a lot more than before. In your past life, if you angered an innkeeper or found yourself on the wrong side of the law, it didn’t matter too much. You could move on to the next town. Now the smallest actions have a big impact on your life. Even the height of your hedges can be scrutinised by ‘the Burrow’s Committee of Neighbourly Conduct.’ It’s difficult at times, and it certainly comes with new and unexpected challenges, but you’re determined to put down roots.
It may just be your greatest adventure yet.
